Black + Blue Detox Smoothie Bowl

Hey friends! After the holidays it feels good to get back into a routine of being active and eating fresh food. In the New Year, I've been incorporating more superfood smoothies into my diet and actually have seen the biggest improvements in my skin! It's crazy how even skincare starts on the inside. You've probably noticed the charcoal trend popping up in body products over the past year - I looked in my shower one day and noticed that my face wash, conditioner, and body scrub all had charcoal in them! I started researching the benefits of charcoal and found that it acts like a magnet for toxins in the body. Activated charcoal powder is only $6 on Amazon and works for everything from DIY face masks to healthy smoothies. 

This smoothie bowl is a blend of wild blueberries, banana, cashew butter, kale, dates, chia seeds and of course - activated charcoal. Natural carbs, healthy fats, loads of fiber and leafy greens? The perfect way to start your day! Because of the charcoal's ability to latch onto toxins and wipe them from your system, make sure to drink lots of water whenever you consume it. 



Serves 1

  • 1 c. frozen wild blueberries 
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 handful chopped kale
  • 1 tbsp. cashew butter
  • 1 tsp. white chia seeds
  • 1/2 tsp. activated charcoal powder
  • 1/4 c. almond milk
  • Toppings - crunchy granola, extra fruit (I used blood orange, strawberries, blueberries, and kiwi), hemp seeds

Place ingredients in food processor or high-speed blender. Blend until creamy and smooth. Pour into a bowl and decorate with your toppings of choice!
